Carbon Credits

Carbon Credits ( also called Emission Reduction Units or Certified Emission Reductions ) are an outcome of the Kyoto Protocol on Environmental Change.  Countries and corporations which fail to meet emission reduction targets will buy Carbon Credits from countries and corporations who have met their targets -  thereby providing worldwide incentives to reduce the amount of "greenhouse gases" in our atmosphere.  Because of the increased focus on environmental issues, Carbon Credits are becoming more important by the day.

According to the World Bank :
  • Carbon Emissions Trading in 2004 was less than $1B US.
  • By 2005, the value was $11B US
  • the value reached $30B in 2006
  • the value continues to climb today

The idea between ERU trading is to use market forces to help in the effort to reduce greenhouse gasses by putting an economic value on emissions.  Those who produce emissions and those who can reduce emissions now have an trading field in which they can each gain value
So far, most trading has taken place under the EU's Emissions Trading Scheme, which is mandatory for EU members.  In North America, while we wait for government regulation, a number of cities, states, and provinces have joined voluntary trading blocks.

WASHINGTON - "Worldwide trading of credits in carbon dioxide emissions linked to global warming is poised to more than triple this year . . . as companies prepare for the Kyoto treaty to limit carbon pollution", the World Bank said.

Carbon Credits will be traded worldwide in a form of "stock exchange", and a number of 'brokers' have already established themselves. A Carbon Credit ( ERU ) is 1 Ton of Carbon Dioxide,  and equates to about 1 MegaWattHour of electricity.

Prices have varied between $5 and $15.  By the end of 2005, they had reached $9, and by early 2006 they were trading for about $27 US. Some 'trading floors' reported prices beyond $45US in 2007.

Some analysts are predicting prices of $50 and above.  Your organization, producing "Green" energy with your Hybridyne Power System, will have an additional income stream - earning income while saving money on energy and saving the emission of pollutants.

In order to 'sell' Carbon Credits, your organization will need to be 'certified' as an alternative energy producer.  Hybridyne is planning to become one of the  bodies which perform certification.
